Holly Rivers from London via Cardiff - September 21

I'm Holly. I'm 25,living in London, but originally from Cardiff (...but I'm not one of those annoying, patriotic types with a Charlotte Church [sign in to see URL] there is no Stereophonics in my mix).
I'm in between jobs at the moment but work in the broadcast industry, and want to be a documentary camera woman eventually. Some people say I'm ginger but I prefer to think of myself as 'strawberry blonde'.
I can often be found reading Tank Girl comics, doing circus skills, fiddling with my dreadlocks, enjoying a pint of cider, wearing clothes that clash, teaching my 8 year old brother rude words, and playing with my buddies.
I dislike eggs, people who describe themselves as “crazy/nuts/bonkers”, the tube, diarrhoea, tattoos of Disney characters, and those who assume I'm a vegetarian and like tie die just because of my dreadlocks-I'm not and I don't.

Gah! Who wrote that tripe for her? I resent the implication that there is something wrong with gingers. I love ginger hair and always wanted to be a ginger. I have 2 magnificent ginger cats, so that's as close as i will ever be. If that's how they do her press releases, no wonder she is between jobs. Feh.

Some Brits have this thing about red-haired people for some reason.. I think it's meant to be in a joking manner.
Taking the piss.. But it's pretty ingrained ..
They're taunted for the colour of their hair.. things are assumed about their personality.
I find it very odd. No such thing exists in Canada.
I first heard about this when I visited Ireland at age 10.
The neighbourhood 'gang' I fell in with while we were there taunted this red-haired kid and wouldn't let him play football with us. Because he was a "Ginger".. I though this was insane.
But then, they tried to taunt me because I wore long pants.. I got into a fight my first full day there because I wore jeans if you can believe that!
Any way I asked my Uncle Tom - Who has (had) a head of red hair about this "Ginger" crap and he said he's been picked on in school about it. So it must go a way back.
The thing was, none of the kids, or my Uncle could tell me WHY they assumed this crap about red-haired, freckle faced kids. And none could tell me.. it was just "done"..
How stupid.

Here's a forum thread entitles: "Why do Brits hate Gingers?"

not more than a couple months ago, Southpark aired an ep about the "ginger" problem. It was supposed to be satire but some American idiots saw it and organized a day to beat up on the school's red haired children. The "innocence" of childhood - what bull.

I've never seen, or heard of anyone picked on for the colour of their hair here.
The whole concept seems assinine to me. Like people assuming blonds are dumb.. That's just stupid.
But then I quite like freckles on girls.. and freckles seem to be found more on redheads than anyone else.. so maybe I should declare a conflict of interest.

the boys in canada... emma & todd fennel kissing in a tree!!....

the infamous red text book that contained writings that would have got us in big trouble

maggie the make up woman and her faggy fingers

pasta and pesto from the canteen

micro scooters

that smelly clapper board man

that fit dreadlocked clapper board man!

Emma:

Holly:

Emma:
Oh, that crappy hotel with the construction work always going on.

And can you remember dwayne and the freaky paintings in the little outback lodge in canada?

And when me, you and fliss filled the jacuzzi with bubble bath and it exploded so we had to get all the bubbles in buckets and transport them into the swimming pool - only to notice at the end that they had us on cctv the whole time!

Oh, and do you remember one night in the richmond hill when me and you went into someone's wedding reception in our pyjamas?!
